ESSAY CONTEST WINNER: Congratulations to Alex Campbell for being selected as one of the “Ethics in Business Essay Contest” winners for the East County Chambers of Commerce.
NATIONAL COLLEGE SIGNING DAY: Tuesday, April 26th is National College Signing Day. We will be celebrating all seniors who are signing with a 4-year university. Banners will be made for each college where a senior will accept admission on the outside of classroom doors on Tuesday. The seniors will be notified in their English class on Monday where/what room their college will be located. Seniors will sign their name on the door. Seniors, please wear your gear for the college you will be attending. Also, cake will be served for these seniors who are signing with a 4-year university outside of room S6 as a celebration for their academic success and future at lunch on Tuesday.
CLASS OFFICER ELECTIONS: ASB will be hosting Class Office elections May 23rd through the 25th. If you would like to run for Senior, Junior, or Sophomore Class Office, please stop by ASB, Room 504, to sign up. The winners will be announced at the Dodgeball Tournament on Wednesday, May 25th.
DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT: The ASB Dodgeball Tournament will be here before you know it. The tournament will be on Wednesday, May 25th at 3:30 in the gym. If you would like to compete, all you need is a team of 6, uniforms, a team name, signed district waivers and an entry fee. It costs $5 per person ($30 per team). The top 2 teams will move on to the District Dodgeball Tournament at Granite Hills on Tuesday, May 31st. There will be prizes for the first place team and don’t forget about the bragging rights! Stop by ASB to pick up a team packet to sign up.
CALLING ALL SULTANS: Do you like graphic design, photography or working behind the scenes in a creative environment? If so, consider joining the Yearbook Staff. We are accepting applications for the fall now. Earn a Varsity letter; look good on college application and get job/work experience. Applications are available in the front office, room 401 or go to the school website and under the student tab select the Yearbook link and apply online.

SULTANS OF SWING: Congratulations to the Sultans of Swing for a fantastic regular season going 18 and 2 overall. The golf team finished the season undefeated in League play after crushing Monte Vista yesterday 211 to 323. Andy Cornish, Hunter Reynolds, Mark Kitten, Josh Fentress, Brian Spicher, Joseph Morgan, Derek Powell and Cody Clinger all helped contribute to the back to back Grossmont League Championships. Wish these players luck as they head to the post season.
THE PURPLE TENNIS NATION celebrated its “Salute to Seniors” match with a convincing win against cross town rival West Hills. All 9 graduating seniors started the match and led the charge in the 14-4 win. A very special thank you to the 6 gentlemen that gave all 4 years to the program: Captains, Dean Wedeking and Blake Evans, Kyle Breman, Gabe Rodriguez, Alex Campbell and Anthony Parras. Also a thank you goes out to the 3 graduates that have been a part of the Nation for the last 2 years: Eric Gomez, Jacob Grable, and Jacob Heinz. Thank you all for your service and commitment.

A.C.E.: Santana’s Architecture, Construction, and Engineering after school program also known as ACE meets Wednesday’s in 802, right after school at 2:00. Students who join ACE will have an opportunity to earn high dollar scholarships for participating. To learn more, come to the meeting or see Mr. Kay for more information.
PEACE COUNCIL: Wednesday’s at lunch in room 105. We focus on building a better Santana community, community service, and fun activities. New members are welcome!
SCIENCE FICTION CLUB: The Sci-Fi Club is open to all on Wednesday’s at lunch in room 207. The Sci-Fi Club is a fun place to hang out and eat your lunch. We will be discussing the new Star Wars Battle Front game.
ECOLOGY CLUB: The Ecology Club meets Wednesdays at lunch in room S8. Everyone is welcome and we are always looking for new ideas for helping the environment and new people to get involved. Of course we also want to have fun so join us next week for one of infamous team games. There will be prizes.
THE COLOR SPECTRUM CLUB is your Santana LGBT club and meets Thursdays at lunch in room 402. We invite you to come and hang out, learn about LGBT issues, meet new friends, and help us plan some fun and exciting events.

ROBOTIC’S CLUB is meeting in room 307 on Wednesdays to get ready for the competition season! If you would like to be a part of the San Diego and Las Vegas regional competitions, come by and sign up! Build season starts in January and we will be practicing designs and fundraising in December.
