GOLDEN APPLE: ASB would like to congratulate one of our most beloved PE teacher for winning the Golden Apple Award.  Year after year, decade after decade, she’s still like pure sunshine.  Congratulations Mrs. Farres and thank you for all your love and devotion to our school and its students.

THE SADIE HAWKINS DANCE is fast approaching.  It will be hosted in the gym on Friday, February 12th after the basketball game.  Come whether you’re single, looking or taken.  It’s a semi-formal dance, so feel free to dress up a little.  The prices for tickets are:  Presale – February 1-5 is $8 or $5 with an ASB card.  February 8-12 is $10 or $8 with an ASB card and $12 at the door.  Buy your tickets in the finance office starting Monday.

MISS SADIE HAWKINS: Ladies – If you would like to run for Miss Sadie Hawkins, all you need to do is video your ‘Sadie-posal’ and enter it in the contest by Friday, February 6th.  Ask your date in the most creative way possible.  The videos will be reviewed and the top candidates will be introduced at the Sadie Hawkins assembly on Friday, February 12th.  We will show the top videos to the audience and have you compete in a couple of games with your date.  At the end of the assembly, the audience will vote for their favorite, and that night at the dance, the winner will be awarded a Miss Sadie Hawkins sash, a giant teddy bear, a giant box of chocolates, and a gift certificate.  Awards will also be given to 2nd and 3rd place.  Please see Mrs. Elliott to go to ASB for more information.  

MR. SANTANA: Gentlemen, we haven’t forgotten about you.  Junior and Senior boys – if you would like to compete in one of the most prestigious awards at Santana, then the Mr. Santana Pageant need you.  ASB will be hosting its 3rd Annual Mr. Santana Pageant on Friday, February 26th at 7:00 pm in the gym.  All you need is a current photo, a winning personality, good looks and a unique talent.  The winner will be crowned, sashed and given various gift certificates from Santee businesses.  Keep posted for the mandatory meeting next week. 

BASKETBALL: It’s been sunny all week, but there is a 100% chance of rain tonight….Purple Rain that is!  Our fearless Sultans are battling it out at the Farm.  Come out and support our Sultans at El Capitan tonight.  Varsity girls start at 5:30 and boys varsity at 7:00.  

PSAT RESULTS: Sophomores and Juniors – PSAT results are finally here.  If you took the PSAT back in October, come by the attendance office at break, lunch, or after school to get your scores.

ACE MEETING: There is a mandatory ACE meeting today at lunch in Mr. Kay’s room, 802.  You must attend this meeting if you want to go on the ACE field trip.

SCHOOL CLEAN UP DAY: The Ecology Club is sponsoring a school cleanup on Monday after school.  Join us after your last class, either 6th or 7th period.  We’ll provide buckets and grabbers to pick up trash around the campus, to help the environment, and make our school look better to our community.  Afterward we will reward your efforts with a free barbecue lunch.  We will be meeting at room S8 and we hope you will join us.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SANTANA VARSITY DANCE Team for doing a great job at the So Cal Championships last Sunday in Newport Beach.  Coach Sam says thank you for working hard.  Please wish our Varsity dancers good luck as they compete at the Glendale Regionals this Sunday at Glendale High School.

BOYS SOCCER: Boys Soccer won their 10th game of the season last night beating rival El Capitan 2-0 improving their record to an impressive 10-1-4 overall record for the season.  Alonzo Dukes scored both goals last night with assists from Tristen Salinas and Andrew Isabel.  Jacob Odenkirk recorded his 8th shutout in goal for the season and with 3 saves last night he moved to 7th on the all-time San Diego CIF record books for career saves.  All Boys’ soccer players report today for pictures after school at the football field with Varsity going at 3:30 and JV at 4:00.

CONGRATULATIONS to Santana Girls’ Varsity Basketball for a league opening win against El Cajon 48-25.  Also, the Girls’ Basketball Team competed in the Steve Albers Memorial Shootout against Sweetwater High School winning 33-31.  Congratulations to Janice Deguerio who received the Sportsmanship Award. 

SOFTBALL TRYOUTS begin Saturday, February 20th starting at 9:00 am at the softball field.  You need to be cleared by the finance office to try out. 

THE PURPLE TENNIS NATION is having its first informational meeting on the upcoming men’s season today at lunch in room 704.  Come get the game and practice schedule and get all the information necessary to be a part of something big.  We are especially looking for Freshmen and Sophomores.  No experience is necessary.  See you at lunch.

SWIM & DIVE MEETING: There will be a boys and girls swim and dive meeting during lunch on Tuesday, February 2nd in room 111.

SPRING SPORTS CLEARANCE: Avoid the lines!  It is not too early to clear for spring sports.  Complete the online clearance and bring the signed consent form along with your physical to the finance office.  All physicals must have a stamp from the doctor’s office and be good for the entire spring season.  No exceptions!


ZOMBIE CLUB: If you want to survive the Zombie Apocalypse, come join the Zombie Club every Wednesday’s at lunch in Ms. Chandler’s room, S7.  New members are welcome.  We are all infected.

READING CLUB: Meets in the library every Friday at lunch.  If you enjoy a good read and sharing your love for literature, come join us.

KEY CLUB: Want to make quality friends and become more involved in school activities while earning your volunteer hours?  Thursday’s at lunch in Room 107.

A.C.E.: Santana’s Architecture, Construction, and Engineering after school program also known as ACE meets Wednesday’s in 802, right after school at 2:00.  Students who join ACE will have an opportunity to earn high dollar scholarships for participating.  To learn more, come to the meeting or see Mr. Kay for more information.

PEACE COUNCIL: Wednesday’s at lunch in room 105.  We focus on building a better Santana community, community service, and fun activities.  New members are welcome!

SCIENCE FICTION CLUB:  The Sci-Fi Club is open to all on Wednesday’s at lunch in room 207.  The Sci-Fi Club is a fun place to hang out and eat your lunch.  We will be discussing the new Star Wars Battle Front game.

ECOLOGY CLUB:  The Ecology Club invites you to join us each week.  Come for some fun, learn about ways we can help improve our environment, and hear of some great community service events we having coming up.  We meet at lunch every Wednesday in Room S-8.

THE COLOR SPECTRUM CLUB is your Santana LGBT club and meets Thursdays at lunch in room 402.  We invite you to come and hang out, learn about LGBT issues, meet new friends, and help us plan some fun and exciting events.

CHRISTIAN CLUB: Every Thursday at lunch in room 704.

ART CLUB: Wednesdays at lunch in Room 703. No experience necessary and all are welcome.  The more the merrier!

ROBOTIC’S CLUB is meeting in room 307 on Wednesdays to get ready for the competition season! If you would like to be a part of the San Diego and Las Vegas regional competitions, come by and sign up! Build season starts in January and we will be practicing designs and fundraising in December.
