CAP AND GOWN:  The Saturday date that San Diego Graduate Supply will be here has been changed to  Saturday, February 20th from 1-3:00 in front of the school.  If you did not receive a cap and gown order form from your government or econ class, please come up to Mrs. King’s office to pick one up. 

MISS SADIE HAWKINS: Although the Sadie Hawkins dance has been cancelled, the competition still remains.  Come to today’s assembly to watch our top 8 girls compete to win the title of Miss Sadie Hawkins.  Once she is awarded, we will move onto the Battle of the Classes where each class will compete head to head in 4 final games.  Once the points have been tallied, ASB will award the winning class with a check for $500 to go towards their prom.  Come sit with your class and cheer them on to victory.

MR. SANTANA: Our third annual Mr. Santana Pageant is just around the corner.  ASB is hosting Mr. Santana on Friday, March 4th in the gym at 7:00 pm.  Mayor, Rob McNelis will be emceeing the event once again and our esteemed panel of judges will include our favorite Attendance Clerk, Mrs. Smith, our original Mr. Santana, John Albright, and KUSI’s, Ali Wagner, just to name a few.  To the winner go the spoils, which include a crown, sash, and various gift cards and tickets.  If you are interested in being a contestant, please come to the ASB room today at lunch to get details.

BLOOD DRIVE: ASB will be hosting its second blood drive of the year on March 10th.  Permission slips will soon be available.  Get yours in right away so you can get the best time available for your needs.  Make sure to fill out the correct permission slip for your age.  If you are 15 and you donated at our first blood drive you must wait 6 months before donating, so you will be unable to donate on March 10th.  However, we will be hosting once more in May.

ARE YOU READY TO MEET YOUR MATCH?  Purchase your match maker report at lunch in the quad for only $3.  You may find your Valentine.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following new Peace Council officers:  Aleena – Secretary, Bailey – Activities, Camille – Photographer, and Griffin and Camille – Publicity. 

MORP: Coming up is our last dance before Prom and it’s going to be out of this world.  The Class of 2017 is hosting this year’s MORP on March 11th.  The dance will be neon themed.  All grades are invited.  Tickets will be on sale starting sometime next week at the finance office.  Tickets will cost $8 with an ASB card, $10 without and $12 at the door.  Make sure you buy your tickets early to reserve your spot for this crazy night.  Check the class of 2017 twitter @santana_2017 for updates.  You won’t want to miss this night!

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: We are pleased to announce the “Support a Roadrunner Scholarship”.  If you graduated from Rio Seco with a current overall GPA of 2.0 then you are eligible to apply.  See Mrs. Spenny for application.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Girls’ Varsity Basketball team on their victory over Steele Canyon 46-45.  Girls’ Varsity will be playing Grossmont at 5:30 today.  JV will be playing El Cajon Valley at 4:00 today. 

THE MIGHTY PURPLE TENNIS NATION begins its quest for a 5th League championship next week.  There is a final pre-season meeting today at lunch in room 704.  Come get all the final information before the journey begins on Monday. No experience is necessary to play, just the desire to be a part of something big.  See you at lunch.

TRACK MEETING: All students interested in track, there will be a meeting today at lunch in the gym.

BASEBALL MEETING: Anyone interested in playing baseball this year, there will be a meeting at the beginning of lunch on Tuesday in room 209.


ZOMBIE CLUB: If you want to survive the Zombie Apocalypse, come join the Zombie Club every Wednesday’s at lunch in Ms. Chandler’s room, S7.  New members are welcome.  We are all infected.

READING CLUB: Meets in the library every Friday at lunch.  If you enjoy a good read and sharing your love for literature, come join us.

KEY CLUB: Want to make quality friends and become more involved in school activities while earning your volunteer hours?  Thursday’s at lunch in Room 107.

A.C.E.: Santana’s Architecture, Construction, and Engineering after school program also known as ACE meets Wednesday’s in 802, right after school at 2:00.  Students who join ACE will have an opportunity to earn high dollar scholarships for participating.  To learn more, come to the meeting or see Mr. Kay for more information.

PEACE COUNCIL: Wednesday’s at lunch in room 105.  We focus on building a better Santana community, community service, and fun activities.  New members are welcome!

SCIENCE FICTION CLUB:  The Sci-Fi Club is open to all on Wednesday’s at lunch in room 207.  The Sci-Fi Club is a fun place to hang out and eat your lunch.  We will be discussing the new Star Wars Battle Front game.

ECOLOGY CLUB:  The Ecology Club invites you to join us each week.  Come for some fun, learn about ways we can help improve our environment, and hear of some great community service events we having coming up.  We meet at lunch every Wednesday in Room S-8.

THE COLOR SPECTRUM CLUB is your Santana LGBT club and meets Thursdays at lunch in room 402.  We invite you to come and hang out, learn about LGBT issues, meet new friends, and help us plan some fun and exciting events.

CHRISTIAN CLUB: Every Thursday at lunch in room 704.

ART CLUB: Wednesdays at lunch in Room 703. No experience necessary and all are welcome.  The more the merrier!

ROBOTIC’S CLUB is meeting in room 307 on Wednesdays to get ready for the competition season! If you would like to be a part of the San Diego and Las Vegas regional competitions, come by and sign up! Build season starts in January and we will be practicing designs and fundraising in December.
