STUDENT BULLETIN:

BEACH CLEAN UP: The Clean Water Club is sponsoring a beach cleanup this Sunday at La Jolla Shores.  Come to earn community service, or just to help improve the environment.  The cleanup will begin at 9:00 am and your effort will be rewarded afterward with a barbecue.  You can pick up a flyer with more information and the required permission slip from Mr. Henning in room S8.  The weather is going to be hot, so it will be a great day to be at the beach.  Also, don’t forget to join us on Wednesdays.  Our club meets at lunch in room S8.

RUMMAGE SALE: The Santana Music Department is hosting a rummage sale in front of school tomorrow, Saturday, from 6-11:00 am.  We need donations for items to sell, so if you can drop off anything for us to sell, please do.  Books, CD’s, clothing, furniture, small working appliances, and knick knacks are perfect for us to sell.  If you have any questions, come see Mr. Stalmann in room 602.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following 1st place finishers in yesterday’s track meet.  Varsity Girls:  Janice Deguerio – 1600m, 800m, Ashtyn Cooper – shot put, Taylor Estes – discus, Victoria Hilke – triple jump, pole vault, Bri Kruis – high jump, and Varsity Boys:  Kibrom Elias – 3200m and Brendan Roderick – long jump, triple jump and high jump.

CONGRATULATIONS to golfers Hunter Reynolds, Brian Spicher, Mark Kitten, Josh Fentress, Matt Emory and the low scoring machine Andy Cornish in their 19 stroke victory over Grossmont yesterday.  Andy Cornish has been the medalist in a career high 4 straight matches with his lowest score being just two over par.  Keep up the good work boys.

THE PURPLE TENNIS NATION ran its record to 5-2 this week with 2 convincing wins against El Cap and El Cajon Valley.  The team was lead by Tyler Hodges and Steven Slead in singles and in doubles the play of Gabriel Rodriguez and Anthony Parras has been impressive.  League play starts next week.  Don’t forget the lunch meeting today.

BLOOD DRIVE: ASB is hosting its second blood drive on the year on March 17th.  We exceeded our goal at our December drive, just in time for the holidays.  Because so many donate around the holidays, this time of the year they are really in need of donations.  Help us reach our goal of 75 appointments to help out with the high demand of blood.  You could save a life.

CAP AND GOWNS: Seniors, if you missed yesterday’s Cap & Gown/Announcement Order Day you’ll have to contact the company directly to order.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:  Peer mediators are here and available for you.  This year’s mediators are Brielle Wilkerson, Tara Kyne and Deanna Aguiar.  They can help you resolve conflicts between you and someone that you are having a disagreement with.  They are also available if you just need another student to talk to.  So, if you need help resolving issues between friends, you can grab a request slip in any classroom or in the guidance office.

PEACE COUNCIL: Join Peace Council and make a difference.  Meetings are Wednesdays at lunch in room 105.

BOOK CLUB: Hello Sultan Readers!  If you enjoy reading and would like to share your love of books with other Sultans, join Santana’s Book Club every Friday at lunch in the library.  Bring your lunch and the love of literature.

ZOMBIE CLUB: If you want to survive the zombie apocalypse, come to room S-7 every Wednesday at lunch in Ms. Chandler’s room.  Don’t be left for dead.  We are all infected!

KEY CLUB: Join Key Club to participate in fun community service activities.  We meet Thursdays at lunch in room S2.  Also, members that signed up for our Roadside Pride activity should meet at the Jack in the Box on Magnolia by 67 and Gillespie Field.

DISNEY CLUB: You’ve got a friend in us.  Come join Santana’s very own Disney Club.  Have you always wanted to go to Disneyland, but lacked the time or money?  Disney Club fundraises to go to Disneyland, so come join and plan for the 2015 Disneyland trip.  Fundraising starts soon, so join before it’s too late.  They meet Tuesdays at lunch in Mr. Reilly’s room.

SULTAN READERS!  Remember we meet every Friday in the library at lunch to share and discuss our latest reading adventures.  Remember to get to the library ASAP today as we have our guest speaker, Mr. Johnson, joining us to share our mutual love of literature.
