SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS are now available online on the Santana website or at the attendance counter in the front office.  Space is limited, so get your application in as soon as possible.  See your counselor if you have any questions. 

GUEST PASSES: Prom guest passes are now available in Ms. King’s office.  Any guest not currently attending Santana High School must be approved through the VP Office.  Any guest 21 years and older must meet with a Vice Principal.

SENIOR BRAG SHEETS:  The last day to turn in your blue senior info sheet is Monday, May 18th.  You need to turn in a completed form to be considered for a Santana Staff Scholarship at Senior Awards.  See Mrs. Wilkerson if you have any questions. 

Seniors who went to Winter Formal this year and haven’t received a $5 coupon by the end of today go to the attendance office and sign your name on the list.

NATIONAL ANTHEM AUDITIONS: If you are a junior and would like to audition to sing the National Anthem at graduation this year, please see Ms. Bingham in the front office and give her your name.  Auditions will take place during lunch on Thursday, May 21st. 

HONOR JAZZ BAND: Congratulations to sophomore Kaylee Mitchell for being selected to the 2015 Grossmont District honor Jazz Band.  This year, the Honor Jazz Band will perform under the leadership of Bill Yeager from San Diego State.  The concert is being held at SDSU in Smith Recital Hall on Saturday, May 23rd at 2:00 pm 

GRADUATION LEIS: Seniors – Graduation leis are now on sale, so turn in your order forms to room 802 or Bridget Fyson before the deadline on Friday, May 29th.  The leis are $20 and will be delivered to students at check-in on the day of graduation.  Get your order forms in soon.

JUNIOR CLASS FUNDRAISER: Juniors – There will be a Panda Express fundraiser on Friday, May 29th.  Flyers will be passed out in your English class soon.  Make sure to bring that flyer to Panda Express in Santee anytime from noon to 9:00 pm on May 29th to help raise money for the Junior Class.  Hope to see you there. 

ART SHOW: Come one, come all to the 29th Annual Grossmont District Art Show.  The art show will be up from today until Sunday at Parkway Plaza in between JCPenney and Macy’s.  Art, clay and photography students will all be exhibiting work alongside other district schools.  See you there. 

READ POSTERS: The photography class has been working hard on creating one of a kind READ posters and they are now finished and on display in the library.  Please come down to the library and take a look at this fun and impressive student art show. 

CONGRATULATIONS to our gymnastics teams for doing well at league finals this year.  Our JV gymnasts, Ella Montouri and Baylee Baker took top places at JV finals and our varsity gymnasts, Maddie Duncan, Alex Lamora, Paige Burgin, Selina Wade, Cahleya Scruggs and Brielle Wilkerson all qualified for CIF on individual events.  A big congrats to Selina Wade for placing in the top 6 on beam and another big congrats to Cahleya for taking top places, including being the first place all around optional gymnast for East County.  A very special congrats to team captain, Brielle Wilkerson, for being voted by district coaches as the Gymnast of the Year.  This is a great honor and coach mom is so proud of you.  Selina, Maddie, Sam and Brielle, I will miss you all so much.  I will watch you compete for the last time at CIF and I will stand next to you and be your biggest fan as you close this chapter of your life and move one.  I love you all. 

CONGRATULATIONS to Tyler Hodges and to doubles tandem Dean Wedeking and Kyle Breman as all have qualified for CIF next week.  They currently are in the league semi-finals which will take place tomorrow.  Good luck gentlemen.  All Purple Tennis Nation members – check in with Coach Lelevier today at lunch for banquet information.

3 ON 3 BASKETBALL: The 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament is next Thursday, May 21st.  Get a permission slip from Mr. Barry’s room. The cost is $25 a team.  Also, all seniors who play in the tournament or go to the game will be entered in a raffle for 2 free Prom tickets.  You must be at the game to win.

GIRLS GOLF: If you are a girl interested in playing golf, there will be a meeting in room 802 on Friday, May 22nd after school.  No experience is required, just a desire to play golf.  Please come and learn more about our girls’ golf program.

FOOTBALL MEETING: Anyone interested in playing football next year, there will be a short meeting today at lunch in the weight room. 

FINES: Hello Sultan Scholars!  The end of the year is coming quickly, and some of you, as wonderful as you are, still have fines to take care of! You seniors especially, and there are 96 of you out there, please come in and take care of any fines still remaining on your accounts. There is a special Senior fines list in the Library entry, so come in and check it out to make sure you are cleared.  

NEED VOLUNTEER HOURS? There is a volunteer opportunity for the International Fair held at Riverview Elementary on Saturday, May 30th.  There is a need of volunteers for game booths, parking, security, volunteer check-in, and general volunteers to cover other booths.  We will provide letters of community service at the completion of volunteering.  If you are interested contact Brandi Whitehurst at or see Mrs. Wilkerson-Spenny for Mrs. Whitehurst’s phone number.

EMERGENCY CARDS: If you forgot to bring your emergency card, PTSA membership, etc. to registration day this week, there is a drop box on the front desk in the Administration office.  Just come on in and put it in the box.  Make sure your student number is on your paperwork.


PEACE COUNCIL: Join Peace Council and make a difference.  Meetings are Wednesdays at lunch in room 105.

BOOK CLUB: Hello Sultan Readers!  If you enjoy reading and would like to share your love of books with other Sultans, join Santana’s Book Club every Friday at lunch in the library.  Bring your lunch and the love of literature.

ZOMBIE CLUB: If you want to survive the zombie apocalypse, come to room S-7 every Wednesday at lunch in Ms. Chandler’s room.  Don’t be left for dead.  We are all infected!

KEY CLUB: Join Key Club to participate in fun community service activities.  We meet Thursdays at lunch in room S2.  Also, members that signed up for our Roadside Pride activity should meet at the Jack in the Box on Magnolia by 67 and Gillespie Field.

DISNEY CLUB: You’ve got a friend in us.  Come join Santana’s very own Disney Club.  Have you always wanted to go to Disneyland, but lacked the time or money?  Disney Club fundraises to go to Disneyland, so come join and plan for the 2015 Disneyland trip.  Fundraising starts soon, so join before it’s too late.  They meet Tuesdays at lunch in Mr. Reilly’s room.
