THE READ PHOTO CONTEST RESULTS ARE IN! First place and the winner of $50 goes to Alex Lamora for her photo of Through the Looking Glass. In second place and the winner of $30 is Ashtyn Cooper for her photo of Stress Management for Dummies. Third place and the winner of $20 goes to Veronica Bouma for The Fault in Our Stars. An Honorable mention goes to Caitlyn Williams for her photo of Lolita. All of the READ posters are on display in the library for your viewing pleasure and a big THANK YOU goes out to Mr. Harris, Mrs. Snipes and Mrs. Thompson for being the judges.
CONGRATULATIONS to Taryn Wyss for receiving first place in the annual district art show in the category of photography. Her photograph entitled "Dapper Day" is on display in the library, along with all of the other students who participated from our school, way to go Taryn.

OK SULTAN SENIORS! Prom and graduation are fast approaching and there are still 90 of you have not cleared your account of fines. There will be an updated fine list in the entry of the library, so even if you are not sure, please come by and check to be sure you are cleared. An “all-call” will also be going out next week to alert parents that seniors who still have fines will not be able to purchase prom tickets, pick up a cap and gown, or pick up a diploma after the graduation ceremony. Bottom line seniors – don’t wait, take care of business!
CONGRATULATIONS to the Sultan Diving Team who had more divers competing in the CIF Diving Championships than any other team in San Diego County. Sultan seniors Nick Royer and Brooke Abrantes both grabbed medals by taking 4th place. Chase Webster grabbed the silver medal and leaves today to compete in the CIF State Diving Championships. Best of luck Chase.
HEY SENIORS! Graduation Leis are now on sale so turn in your order forms to Mr. Kay in Room 802 or to Bridget Fyson before the deadline on Friday, May 29. The leis are $20 and will be delivered to students at check-in on the day of graduation. Get your order forms in soon.
ATTENTION JUNIORS! There will be a Panda Express fundraiser on Friday, May 29. Fliers will be passed out in your English class soon. Make sure to bring the flier to Panda Express in Santee any time from noon-9:00 p.m. on May 29 to help raise money for the junior class! Hope to see you there!
BOYS GOLF! Congratulations to Andy Cornish and Hunter Reynolds for qualifying for CIF’s 18 hole tournament at Admiral Bakersfield on Tuesday. Both players were instrumental in helping toe golf team win its first league championship in 13 years.
NATIONAL ANTHEM AUDITIONS: If you are a junior or senior and would like to audition to sing the National Anthem at Senior Awards this year, please see Ms. Bingham in the front office to sign up.

CONGRATULATIONS to Santana sophomore trumpet player Kaylee Mitchell, who was named to the 2015 Grossmont District Honor Jazz Band. The band is made up of students from all over our district. They are working at SDSU today and tomorrow, under SDSU Jazz Studies Department Chairman, Bill Yeager. The concert will be held tomorrow in the Smith Recital Hall on the SDSU campus at 1:00 p.m., Also on the program are the jazz bands from Grossmont, Valhalla, El Capitan, and Steele Canyon high schools. Way to go Kaylee!!
"SUPER SATURDAY IS BACK!! A ga-zillion students have been asking for another Super Saturday and so it is back! Please save the date for Saturday, May 30th--it's right around the corner. There will be teachers from math, English, and social studies and Mr. Bobof even approved a PE tutorial! Mrs. Hudson will have the computer lab open with printing capabilities. Students can work on assignments to bring up their grades or take missing quizzes and tests. Remember, all with teacher approval. Please sign up ASAP so that Mrs. Hudson knows how many snacks to plan for! RSVP slips are available on the attendance counter. Again, that's next Saturday, May 30th! Spots are limited, so RSVP as soon as possible."
HONOR JAZZ BAND: Congratulations to sophomore Kaylee Mitchell for being selected to the 2015 Grossmont District honor Jazz Band. This year, the Honor Jazz Band will perform under the leadership of Bill Yeager from San Diego State. The concert is being held at SDSU in Smith Recital Hall on Saturday, May 23rd at 2:00 pm.

BOOK CLUB: Hello Sultan Readers! If you enjoy reading and would like to share your love of books with other Sultans, join Santana’s Book Club every Friday at lunch in the library. Bring your lunch and the love of literature.
ZOMBIE CLUB: If you want to survive the zombie apocalypse, come to room S-7 every Wednesday at lunch in Ms. Chandler’s room. Don’t be left for dead. We are all infected!
KEY CLUB: Join Key Club to participate in fun community service activities. We meet Thursdays at lunch in room S2. Also, members that signed up for our Roadside Pride activity should meet at the Jack in the Box on Magnolia by 67 and Gillespie Field.
DISNEY CLUB: You’ve got a friend in us. Come join Santana’s very own Disney Club. Have you always wanted to go to Disneyland, but lacked the time or money? Disney Club fundraises to go to Disneyland, so come join and plan for the 2015 Disneyland trip. Fundraising starts soon, so join before it’s too late. They meet Tuesdays at lunch in Mr. Reilly’s room.
